We are reviewing the Community Strategic Plan (CSP), our long-term plan for Lithgow Local Government Area's (LGA) future. The CSP belongs to everyone who lives, works, learns and invests in the Lithgow Local Government Area. It will help guide decisions about the future of Lithgow over the next 25 years. It sets out the community’s vision and goals, along with strategies for achieving them.
We want to make sure the Plan reflects what’s important to our community, as it guides the initiatives and projects we plan and deliver.
What is our vision?
The community vision below was prepared in 2006, in consultation with our community.
To be a centre of regional excellence that:
- Encourages community growth and development
- Contributes to the efficient and effective management of the environment, community and economy for present and future generations.
It is now time to test this vision; does it still resonate with our community? Or is it time for a more contemporary vision for the future?

Share your ideas on how we can make the Lithgow LGA and our Seven Valleys an even more enjoyable place to live, work and play.
We have developed a series of discussion papers on the following topics (listed below) and invite your feedback. We’re not simply asking whether you agree or disagree, and there are no right or wrong answers. We’re asking you to share your experiences, your ideas and your aspirations for the future.
Some of the best ideas come from the people who know Lithgow best—those who live, work, volunteer, study or run businesses here every day.
Your feedback will help Council understand not only what matters most, but why, so we can make better decisions about where to focus our efforts and resources.
The discussion papers explore the opportunities, challenges and future directions on a range of topics across the Lithgow Local Government Area.
They have been prepared to inform community discussion, gather local knowledge and ideas, and help shape the Community Strategic Plan Towards 2050. Your feedback will help identify priorities and guide future planning, advocacy and decision-making.
The discussion papers are the start of the conversation, not the end. Your feedback will be considered alongside technical studies, demographic information, expert advice and further community engagement to help shape the Community Strategic Plan Towards 2050. We’ll share what we heard, what we learned, and how community feedback helped shape the final Community Strategic Plan.
Every conversation helps shape the future. No single organisation can achieve this alone. The future of the Lithgow LGA will be shaped through partnerships between our community, businesses, industry, government and education providers.
