Council will be undertaking tree works in selected public areas in Lithgow between Monday 3 August and Thursday 6 August following recent safety assessments.

As part of Council’s ongoing commitment to public safety, a qualified Level 5 Arborist was engaged to inspect trees across public spaces throughout the Local Government Area (LGA) to identify any potential risks. These assessments categorise trees based on their condition and level of risk (low, medium, or high) and provide detailed recommendations for appropriate action such as:

  • No intervention required
  • Removal of deadwood
  • Directional or corrective pruning
  • Full tree removal where necessary

scheduled dates for areas are as follows :-

Monday 3/8

  • Andrew St
  • Glanmire Oval
  • Glanmire Oval Footpath

Tuesday 4/8

  • RFS GWH Marangaroo
  • Greyhound Track
  • Donald St

Wednesday 5/8

  • Rabaul St
  • Lemnos St

Thursday 6/8

  • Lemnos St

Decisions regarding tree removal are made following careful consideration of several factors, including the tree’s age, overall health, presence of decay or disease, structural integrity, and root condition.

What does this mean for me?

These works are essential to address identified risks and help ensure the safety of residents, visitors, and property.

Council has engaged a qualified contractor to carry out the recommended works over the coming month. During this time, there may be temporary access changes or disruptions in your area including:

  • Increased noise from tree maintenance equipment and machinery.
  • Temporary footpath closures or diversions to ensure public safety.
  • Minor partial road closures or traffic impacts in work areas.
