Rydal Public Toilet and Bus Shelter Installation – Project Update

Council has investigated alternate sites for the installation of an automated public toilet within Greg Featherstone Park at Rydal. The site originally proposed is unsuitable due to constraints on installation in and around rail infrastructure.

As a consequence, the preferred, alternate site is located to the south of the railway station. This location is close to several local attractions, including the 1909 brake van, signal box and picnic table.

This site is preferred as it has a lower visual impact and is closer to nearby utilities than other sites considered.

A bus shelter is also planned for installation in Greg Featherstone Park. This is proposed to be constructed halfway along the park near a staircase. The bus shelter which will be "classic cream" in colour has a heritage-themed design to compliment the nearby structures.

These proposals will require consent from NSW Environment and Heritage, as well as from the railway authority, UGLRL, before proceeding. Once consent is obtained, construction works will be planned so as not to interfere with Rydal’s annual ‘Daffodils at Rydal’ Festival.
